The non-profit festival was founded in 2014 and is based at La Casa del Cine; screenings take place at Cinemes Girona, Zumzeig, Cines Texas, Mooby Aribau and the Filmoteca de Catalunya, and a selection travels to other towns under the name Route 66. The programme is built around sections such as TOPS, with acclaimed festival titles, NEXT, with emerging directors, and Americana DOCS, alongside shorts and a retrospective. Awards include a critics' prize from the Catalan critics' association ACCEC, a young jury prize and audience awards.
