Its Main Competition is devoted to short animated films produced or co-produced in Central, South and Eastern Europe. Alongside it run three more competitions: European Young Talents for student films from European schools, The Elephant in Competition, an international programme of shorts for children, and VR@Animateka for animated virtual reality works. Special programmes survey contemporary animation from around the world, the animation history of individual countries and particular techniques, and from its beginnings the festival has given national premieres to new animated features. The industry platform AnimatekaPRO hosts talks with authors, masterclasses, round tables and a regional pitching session, complemented by workshops, exhibitions and concerts. The festival is organised by the Two Reels Association for the Reanimation of Storytelling.
