Around them are thematic out-of-competition programmes, comedy shorts, free open-air screenings at the Mont des Arts and industry events such as a short film market and pitching workshops. Screenings are held at Flagey, the Vendôme and Galeries cinemas and other venues in Brussels. The festival is organised by the non-profit Un Soir… Un Grain, active since 1998, for which it was the first event. The Grand Prix winners of the International and National Competitions are eligible for the Oscars® pre-selection, the international Grand Prix also qualifies for the César, and British films in the international competitions can be considered for the BAFTA. In 2019 the festival initiated the European Short Film Audience Award, a tour of audience-award winners from European short film festivals.
