Magnus Fredriksson

Magnus Fredriksson is an animator, filmmaker, illustrator and artist born in Kiruna on a cold November day in 1977. He have lived here all his life, except for a year in Visby and a year in Japan.

After short stints in local-tv, as an illustrator and in the advertisement business, he decided to follow his passion and try to become an animator. He moved to Visby for film studies and a few years later his first animated short film, The Red Shoe, was released.

In 2007 he co-funded the small animation studio Bortbyting with Håkan Rudehill och Anton Hennix Raukola. Since then he have made about 40 short films and commercials.

When he have free time he paint, screen print, build puppets or take photographs.

In 2005 he was awarded the Film Kick. He have also recieved the Rubus Arcticus grant in 2006, the Kiruna Municipality Culture Grant in 2011. In 2015, he recieved a grant from Irma and Einar Forseths culture fund and in 2019 he recieved a grant from Stiftelsen Greta.

He have exhibited art in both Sweden and Japan.
