Na Li
Li Na (b. 1993) Experimental animator and artist, currently based in London.
Born in Hunan province (China), worked in Beijing: animation video producer at Meng Jinghui theater studio; worked at π Animation and participated in the production of several animated film projects.
Na Li received her Masters in Animation from the Royal College of Art. Animation In Year 1, Eczema and Graduation Film Moon Rises Afternoon: Sound Sculpture were rated excellent. For her graduation thesis On the "Dictionary of Image and Sound" she received a distinction.
Na's creations are an original response to sound/music. She drew symbols to represent the sounds and instruments she heard and archived the sonic visual languages using abstract drawings to translate the poem. The motivation for Na's creations comes from boredom. Na Li, as an artist, strives to experience the nature of things in order to be closer to things. She says that the most fundamental creation must belong to the creator's primal reaction to things.
