
Felix Kandel
Born in Moscow on October 21, 1932. He graduated from the Moscow secondary school, and in 1956 - the Moscow Aviation Institute, majoring in aircraft engines. Until the end of 1962, he worked in design bureaus as a design engineer for the design of jet and rocket engines.
Since 1963 - a professional writer, senior editor of the film magazine "Wick" (1965 - 1967). Under the pseudonym Felix Kamov (until 1973) he wrote stories, novellas, plays, scripts (as well as pop miniatures together with E. Uspensky). Published in the magazines "New World" and "Youth", in the "Literary Gazette", "Week", "Crocodile" and other publications. Participated in the creation of scripts for the popular cartoon series "Just you wait!" /the first seven episodes together with A. Kurlyandsky and A. Khait, series No. 19 and 20 together with A. Kurlyandsky/.
He applied to emigrate to Israel in September 1973, after which they stopped publishing in magazines, and the name was removed from the credits of films. Spent four years in denial, participated in demonstrations and hunger strikes to protest for the right to leave; in 1976, after a demonstration in Moscow, he served 15 days for "petty hooliganism" (40 people who were not given permission to leave, marched through the city center with yellow six-pointed stars).
In the samizdat magazine "Jews in the USSR" he published stories and essays. Since 1976, together with B. Fine, he edited the samizdat magazine "Tarbut", dedicated to Jewish history and culture (from the fifth to the ninth issue).
Came to Israel in November 1977, settled in Jerusalem. From 1978 to 1997 he worked in the Russian editorial office of the Kol Israel radio station: the author of programs on the history and culture of the Jewish people. Published in the magazines "Continent", "22", "Frontiers", "Zion", "Time and Us", in the newspapers "Our Country", "Russian Thought", "New Russian Word" and other publications, published books, was won five Israeli literary prizes.
