Diana Cheung
Diana Cheung is an emerging filmmaker with experience in writing, producing and directing. She was born and raised in Derry, Northern Ireland, to Chinese immigrants from HK who emigrated in the 1970s. Growing up as part of a minority ethnic group gives her a unique perspective and she is passionate about amplifying untold stories that are unusual and compelling.
In 2019, Diana was commissioned by the BBC to produce and direct her first short documentary film ‘Lion Girl’, about Northern Ireland’s only female Chinese Lion Dancer, for their True North shorts strand.
She began her TV career as a researcher on the BBC NI True North Series for Erica Starling Productions and for BBC/RTE film ‘Border Country, When Ireland was Divided’ by Erica Starling and Rogan Productions, BBC/RTE film ‘Different League: The Derry City Story’ for State of Grace films and Stray Bear Films.
