Shiva Sadegh Asadi

I started my career as a visual artist in 2006. Then I continued my studies and graduated with a Master’s degree in animation from University of Art, Tehran. in 2013, I made "The Kitten", a paint on glass animation, inspired by a black cat who had given birth to three kittens in our yard. The film won some international awards particularly for its scrip and visual style. I experimented different techniques before making "Maned & Macho" in 2017. This film was a turning point in my career , screened in many festivals and and won multi awards.Both films are about domestic violence against children. "The Kitten" depicts emotional neglect as a form of child abuse and "Maned & Macho" is about an adolescent girl whose natural instincts and emotions are suppressed by her patriarchal family. In my 2020 animation ,"Crab" (that is not released yet) I also followed the same concerns. During these days, under quarantine,I am working on a short experimental stop-motion animation.
