Juliana Rios Martinez
Specialist in Animation from the National University of Colombia. Master of Fine Arts from the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá. In 2012, upon completing her professional career, she attended the intensive sculpture and painting program at the New York Academy of Art in the United States, and in 2017, she completed the Experimental Printmaking course with Master Swietlan N. Kraczyna in Braga, Italy. She has participated in collective exhibitions in Colombia, Canada, England, Spain, Italy, France, the United States, the Netherlands, and Mexico.
Her work has received various awards. This year, she is part of the official selection of the Biennale de Bregaglia 2024. In 2019, she was selected as a resident artist for Arts in Residence, Esbeek (Netherlands). In 2018, she was part of the Artecámara selection at Artbo. In 2015, she won the Artistic Residence from the Council of Arts and Letters of Quebec and the Ministry of Culture, with the opportunity to create at Atelier Circulaire in Montreal, Canada. In 2016, she was chosen as a resident artist for the Colombia-United States Artistic Residence at Sitka Fine Arts Camp (Alaska), awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. In 2014, she received an Honorable Mention in the Faber Castell Drawing Contest, organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogotá.
Currently, her work is part of public collections in museums such as Maqui (Museum of Art of Quindío) and the Tolima Museum. In addition to her role as a creative artist, she has collaborated on pedagogical and collective creation processes since. She lives and works between Villanueva (La Guajira) and Bogotá.
