Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis

Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis (born 1988 in France) is a French artist and filmmaker working between cinema and contemporary art: using digital tools such as game engines, photogrammetry and deepfake AI, he makes documentary works in hybrid forms, from films to installations and live performances, that explore digital identity, memory and the boundary between the real and the virtual. He studied cinema at Université Lumière Lyon 2 and film editing and screenwriting at INSAS in Brussels, attended LUCA School of Arts, and completed postgraduate studies at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains. His short Swatted (2018) received an Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica, the Scam Émergences Prize and the Labo Jury Prize at Clermont-Ferrand, and Maalbeek (2020) won the 2022 César for Best Documentary Short Film. He received the ADAGP Digital Art Revelation Prize in 2018 and has been an associate artist at Centquatre-Paris since 2022.
