Aphra Taghizadeh

Aphra Taghizadeh (b.1999) is an artist filmmaker whose creative endeavors revolve around collaborative work encompassing directing, editing, XR creation, research, and writing. In 2021, he won the Best Experimental Award at the Austrian Film Festival for "Fort-Da Game," a short film connected to his research on themes such as repetition compulsion and the transfer of guilt. In the following year, he made a documentary titled "Ja'az (2023)," focusing on the history of jazz music in the Middle East. More recently, he directed "Verbranntes Land," an immersive recreation of the blindness experience, collaborating with international artists and scholars. His work engages with visual and spatial explorations of human cognition within various societal contexts, utilizing different mediums such as VR, Film, Installation, and performance.
