Ilya Kreines

My project attempts to understand the character of the abstract Central European city and its memory. Inspired by Prague and its rich and continuous history, I imitate poetic wandering between different time periods and places, reality and fiction. In the process I look for familiar footprints of the vanishing Communist and Jewish universes, in order to find an anchor in this vast and blurred theme and in an attempt to create a city of my own. The loose and complex entity of a city is inspired by different elements and references, executed in various mediums and styles, mixing between graphics and animation, all in one basic technique of rubber stamps, carved from erasers.
