Danis Tanović

Danis Tanovic was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 1993, his studies at the Academy of Theatre Arts are interrupted because of the war. In charge of the filmed archives of the Bosnian Army during the first two years of the war, his material is used in numerous films and by news reports from around the world. He takes up his studies in directing at the INSAS in Brussels from 1995 to 1997. He has also directed music videos and TV commercials. His film, No Man's Land won awards around the world, including Best Screenplay at the Festival de Cannes, Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes, Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Sarajevo Festival in 2001, Best Foreign Film Oscar and a César for the Best First Film in 2002.
