Winners Revealed: European Work In Progress Cologne 2023

The recently concluded European Work in Progress (EWIP) event in Cologne (October 16-18) saw diverse projects from around the globe being recognized for their outstanding contributions. Among the notable winners were projects from China, Ethiopia, Croatia, and Germany. An esteemed jury, comprising renowned industry experts, awarded prizes worth a collective sum of €61,500 during the ceremony on Tuesday evening (October 17).

Some of the notable awardees included Swiss-American director Jasmin Gordon's debut film "The New Illusion," which received an award worth €10,000 in services from K13 Studios for Dolby Atmos mixing. Another debut feature, "Armand," directed by Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, was acknowledged with a €5,000 dubbing services award. The event also saw recognition for other compelling projects, such as "Aroma Dream" by Ma Xue, "Strangers In The Night" by Ivona and Anita Juka, "Transamazonia" by Pia Marais, "Vena" by Chiara Fleischhacker, "The Wolves Always Come At Night" by Gabrielle Brady, "The Night Before Easter" by Dagim Sisay, and "Waterdrop" by Robert Budina.

EWIP's program featured 32 works in progress, showcasing a range of captivating narratives from around the world. The event also included the second edition of the International Distribution Summit (IDS) with a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers. Furthermore, Enrique Costa of Elastica Films was honored with the best international innovation distribution award at the closing ceremony (October 18).
