The 31st Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), one of the world’s most important events for animated film, has officially opened its call for entries. The festival, which will take place from April 23 to 28, 2024, is inviting filmmakers from around the globe to submit their artistic animated films and innovative interactive and transmedia works.

Films completed after October 1, 2022, are eligible for submission to various competitions. These include the International Competition, Young Animation, Tricks for Kids, and Trickstar Nature Award with a submission deadline of December 1, 2023. The AniMovie competition, which is for animated films of feature length, has a later deadline of January 17, 2024.

Submission forms and regulations are readily available on the ITFS website. Filmmakers are encouraged to use the online submission platform www.shortfilmdepot.com for film submission.

The festival also offers a unique platform for direct interaction between filmmakers and audiences through audience talks, presentations, and get-togethers. This encourages discourse on films, aesthetics, techniques, and contents.

The free Open Air cinema at Stuttgart’s Schlossplatz adds an international touch to the event and provides a unique experience for visitors from Stuttgart and the region. The festival caters to all age groups and backgrounds with its family-friendly and accessible offerings.

The synergy of ITFS with Animation Production Days and the FMX expert conference makes Stuttgart a unique platform for the animation industry. The ITFS is organized by Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF).
