Valentíny, who won an award at Anifilm 2021 for her video Radiotherapy at the Yellow Hill, has used the motif of hands to represent the creative process of animation. The visual identity has a mysterious and atmospheric style that hints at the festival’s programme.

Anifilm, a festival that showcases animated films from around the world, has entrusted Noemi Valentíny with the task of creating its new visual identity for the next edition in 2024. Valentíny is a graduate of the Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín and a talented director, graphic artist, animator and illustrator. She is known for her works that combine magic, detail and emotion, such as her horror film Raven Mother. She also received the award for the Best Czech Commissioned Work at Anifilm 2021 for her video Radiotherapy at the Yellow Hill.

Valentíny’s visual identity for Anifilm 2024 is based on the motif of hands, which she considers to be the essential tool of animators. Hands can manipulate puppets, draw sketches, click buttons and pluck strings. Hands can also sense, touch and explore, as well as scratch, push and grab. However, the hands of animators are often hidden behind the scenes, working in the dark corners of their imagination. Valentíny’s visual identity aims to bring them into the light and celebrate their role in the animation art. The visual identity also has a mysterious and suggestive style that reflects the atmosphere and the content of the festival’s programme.
