Annegret Richter to Lead the Future of Stuttgart’s International Festival of Animated Film

In a significant development, Annegret Richter, a seasoned curator and festival organizer, has been appointed as the Artistic Director of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS). This follows Heike Mozer's earlier takeover of commercial management in June. The new leadership is welcomed by shareholders, sponsors, and stakeholders, ensuring a more stable future for the festival.

Annegret Richter brings a wealth of experience, having been closely associated with ITFS in her previous roles. Her appointment is celebrated by Michael Kaiser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the FMF, and other key entities involved. The city of Stuttgart and its partners express satisfaction in having Richter, emphasizing her extensive national and international network as a valuable asset.

Heike Mozer, alongside Richter, envisions steering ITFS into the future and reestablishing it as an annual highlight in the global animated film industry. Their collaboration aims to create meaningful spaces for encounters, connecting filmmakers, the industry, and the audience. The duo plans to intensify synergies with FMX and the APDs, further enhancing the festival's influence.

Richter's extensive background includes roles as the festival director at "Filmfest Dresden" and head of the animated film section at DOK Leipzig. She has also been managing director of AG Animationsfilm since 2016.

The ITFS, under the dual leadership of Mozer and Richter, is scheduled for April 23 to 28, 2024. This strategic move aims to position the festival for a successful future. The FMF shareholders, including the city of Stuttgart, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, and the city of Ludwigsburg, anticipate positive outcomes under this new leadership.
