Lupita Nyong'o, the acclaimed Kenyan-Mexican actor, director, producer, and bestselling author, is poised to lead as the President of the International Jury at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. Since her remarkable 2014 Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actress in "12 Years a Slave," Nyong'o has captivated global audiences with her versatile performances. Berlinale directors Mariëtte Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian express their delight at Nyong'o accepting the prestigious role, emphasizing her ability to embrace diverse projects and consistently deliver memorable characters. Born in Mexico City to Kenyan parents and having studied Film and Theatre Studies at Hampshire College, Nyong'o's journey includes producing, directing, and starring in her first film, "In My Genes." With an impressive list of accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Critics' Choice Award, Nyong'o continues to make significant contributions to the film industry. In addition to her film career, she has ventured into Broadway and literature, authoring the children's book "Sulwe."
