Hiroshima Animation Season 2024 Announces Dates and Opens Call for Entries

The second edition of the "Hiroshima Animation Season 2024" is set for August 14-18, 2024, at JMS Aster Plaza. Concurrent with the announcement of the dates, the festival has opened its call for entries, signaling an opportunity for animation professionals and enthusiasts globally.

Competitions and Categories: Showcasing a Variety of Animated Works

This year's festival includes four competition categories, each catering to different aspects of animation:

1. Short Competition: For animated short films.
2. Feature Competition: Open to animated feature-length films.
3. Pan-Pacific and Asia Youth Competition: Targeting young animators from the Pan-Pacific and Asian regions.
4. Japan Commissioned Film Competition: Exclusive to films commissioned in Japan.

Submissions for these categories are currently being accepted through FilmFreeway, with a deadline of April 14, 2024. To avoid a submission fee, creators are advised to submit their works before March 18.

H-AIR: Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence Program

The festival also includes the H-AIR (Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence) program, which offers a three-month residency in Hiroshima to three animation professionals from June to August 2024. This program is an opportunity for animators to immerse themselves in the local animation scene and engage in cultural exchange. Applications for H-AIR are open until January 31, 2024.
