The Sundance Film Festival: London 2024, in its 11th edition, is set to captivate audiences from 6 to 9 June at Picturehouse Central, London. The festival will commence with the UK premiere of "Kneecap", a film by writer and director Rich Peppiatt, and conclude with "Dìdi (弟弟)", directed by Sean Wang.

"Kneecap", an Irish-language film, emerged from the Sundance Film Festival in Utah with the 2024 Audience Award: NEXT. It narrates the real-life story of a Belfast rap group striving to preserve the Irish language amidst a civil rights movement in Northern Ireland. The film showcases the lives of Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, and their encounter with high school teacher JJ Ó Dochartaigh, leading to the formation of a politically charged rap trio. Notably, Michael Fassbender plays a significant role in the film, which is set for release in the UK and Eire in August 2024.

The closing night will feature "Dìdi", a narrative that offers a glimpse into the life of a 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy in California's Bay Area, exploring the complexities of adolescence. The film, applauded for its humor and poignant storytelling, won the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award and the Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble Cast at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

Eugene Hernandez, Director of the Sundance Film Festival, and Clare Binns, Managing Director of Picturehouse Cinemas, expressed their enthusiasm for bringing these debut films and their celebrated storytelling to London audiences. The festival aims to showcase a range of fiction and documentary features, UK shorts, and repertory titles, along with public talks celebrating Sundance Film Festival’s 40th year.

Festival passes are now available, with early bird pricing until 26 April, offering various benefits including priority ticket booking and discounts on food and drink. The festival also emphasizes accessibility, promising screenings and events with options for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The full festival program will be announced later in April, aiming to highlight the best in independent filmmaking.
