The Sundance Institute has officially opened applications for its comprehensive artist programs designed to support individuals at every stage of their creative journey in film and episodic storytelling. These programs provide dynamic support through fellowships, labs, and grants, catering to a wide range of voices and genres.

One of the key opportunities includes the 2025 Development Track, which allows applicants to submit their work-in-progress fiction feature screenplays. Successful submissions may enter programs such as the annual Screenwriters Lab, Screenwriters Intensive, and specific genre fellowships including Comedy and Horror. The Development Track also offers the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and Commissioning Grant.

Another notable program is the 2024 Indigenous Intensive X Hawai'i, specifically designed for emerging Native Hawaiian filmmakers. This three-day intensive, supported by notable patrons including Robert and Linda Nichols and the Creative Industries Division (Hawai‘i), focuses on mentorship and provides hands-on workshops and feedback from industry professionals based in Hawai‘i.

Additionally, the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund is preparing to open applications for its next cycle. This fund has played a pivotal role in supporting documentaries that tackle complex global issues with creative narratives. Furthermore, the Sandbox Fund, in collaboration with Sandbox Films, provides grants and resources for projects exploring the intersection of science and culture.

Applications for these programs are due at various times from May to June, with details available on the Sundance Institute's website. This year’s offerings emphasize the Institute's commitment to fostering diverse and compelling storytelling across different mediums and cultural backgrounds, ensuring a rich and supportive environment for artists to thrive.
