The Swiss Animation Industry Award (SAIA) 2024 is calling for entries of Swiss commercial and commissioned animated films. The event, part of Fantoche Industry Day, will be held on September 6, 2024, in Switzerland. Submissions are free and accepted until June 30, 2024, via Filmfreeway. Eligible films must have significant Swiss contributions. A jury will shortlist entries and select a winner, who will receive the Fantoche trophy and a free submission to Edi.24.

The Swiss Animation Industry Award (SAIA) is once again inviting filmmakers to submit their commercial and commissioned animated films for the 2024 edition. This prestigious award, now in its seventh year, provides a prominent platform to showcase Swiss talent in the animation industry. The SAIA is held in conjunction with the Fantoche Industry Day, one of Switzerland’s most notable events dedicated to animation.

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their works by June 30, 2024. There are no limits on the number of submissions or the duration of the films. However, to be eligible, productions must have been completed after June 30, 2023, and include a significant Swiss contribution, such as being produced by a Swiss production company or executed within Switzerland.

Entries can be submitted free of charge via Filmfreeway. A jury of three experts will meticulously screen the submissions to curate a shortlist and ultimately select the winning film. The winner will be honored with the Fantoche trophy for the best Swiss animated commission and will also receive a free submission to the Edi.24 awards, further promoting Swiss animation talent on an international scale.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday, September 6, 2024, following the Fantoche Industry Day. This collaboration with the Swissfilm Association underscores the commitment to celebrating and elevating Swiss animation in the commercial and commissioned sectors.

For more information or any inquiries, potential entrants can contact the co-curators, Amélie Cochet at cochet@fantoche.ch and Veronica L. Montaño at montano@fantoche.ch. The SAIA eagerly anticipates the diverse and innovative submissions that highlight the creativity and expertise within the Swiss animation industry.
