Berlinale Shorts Highlighted at Mumbai International Film Festival

From June 15 to 21, 2024, the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) in India will feature a Berlinale Spotlight: Berlinale Shorts, showcasing twelve short films premiered at Berlinale from 2020 to 2024. The program will be introduced by Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck, head of Berlinale Shorts, with filmmaker Ekta Mittal also in attendance.

The Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will present a Berlinale Spotlight: Berlinale Shorts from June 15 to 21, 2024, bringing a selection of twelve acclaimed short films to Indian audiences. Founded in 1990, MIFF is South Asia's oldest and largest festival dedicated to documentary, short fiction, and animation films.

The Berlinale Spotlight extends the reach of the Berlinale festival by showcasing its curated programs worldwide throughout the year. This initiative enables a broader audience to experience the cinematic excellence celebrated at Berlinale.

Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck, head of Berlinale Shorts, will introduce the films in Mumbai. She remarked, “This comprehensive programme provides a good overview of the profile of Berlinale Shorts. I am looking forward to meeting the audience at the festival and to the opportunity to get to know the current Indian short film scene extensively.” Henckel-Donnersmarck has also been invited to join the five-member jury for MIFF's National Competition.

Ekta Mittal, director of Gumnaam Din (Missing Days), will be among the notable attendees. Her film, which is part of the Berlinale Spotlight selection, exemplifies the diverse and compelling narratives showcased in this program.

The Berlinale Shorts will be presented in three distinct programs:

Programme 1:
