Karlovy Vary Film Festival Enhances Accessibility with “No Barriers” Project
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), one of the most prestigious film festivals in the Czech Republic, continues to prioritize accessibility through its longstanding "No Barriers" project. Since its inception in 2000, the initiative has been dedicated to ensuring that people with disabilities can fully participate in the festival's offerings.
This year, the "No Barriers" project once again provides free tickets to barrier-free cinemas, allowing disabled attendees and their escorts to enjoy a wide range of films. Additionally, comprehensive assistance services are available to help navigate the festival, including transportation in specially modified vehicles throughout Karlovy Vary and designated parking spaces at the Hotel Thermal.
A highlight of this year’s accessibility features is the Cinema for the Hearing Impaired, where selected Czech films will be screened with Czech subtitles to accommodate attendees with hearing difficulties. This initiative ensures that more people can enjoy the cinematic experience without barriers.
Attendees can also look forward to an unconventional parkour exhibition at the Mill Colonnade, supported by Innogy Czech Republic. This event promises to be an exciting addition to the festival's diverse lineup of activities.
Moreover, in a collaborative effort to ease travel logistics, Czech Railways, a partner of the "No Barriers" project, has introduced a new initiative. Disabled attendees can benefit from train travel vouchers, making their journey to and from the festival more accessible and convenient.
