Sundance Institute Announces 2024 Latine Fellowship & Collab Scholarship Recipients in the U.S.
The Sundance Institute announced the artists selected for the 2024 Latine Fellowship and Collab Scholarship, reaffirming its commitment to amplifying Latine voices in independent film and media. The year-long program, now in its third year, provides early career Latine filmmakers with mentorship, creative development, and essential networking opportunities to support both personal and professional growth.
"This year’s Latine Fellowship and Scholarship recipients come from diverse disciplines, all united by their shared goals of growth and increasing representation for a wide range of Latine voices," said Hajnal Molnar-Szakacs, Director of Sundance Institute’s Artist Accelerator and Women at Sundance.
The Latine Fellowship will offer five artists a $10,000 unrestricted grant, bespoke mentorship, and continuous project development support. Fellows will benefit from engagement with a community of creatives through Sundance programs, such as Sundance Collab and ELEVATE. The fellows were selected from Sundance Institute’s broader artist support programs, which span fiction and nonfiction filmmaking.
The Sundance Institute Latine Collab Scholarship will provide five additional Latine artists, who are new to the Sundance community, with mentorship from Sundance Artist Alumni. These scholars will receive career guidance, regular industry meetings, and participation in artist development sessions to establish a foundation for their future work.

Argentina - Sabrina Ehlert (writer-director) with Connie & Lola

U.S. - Joie Estrella Horwitz (writer-director) with Dreamland
A love story emerges in a slaughterhouse, exploring the ghosts of the past and future.

The 2024 Latine Fellowship & Collab Scholarships are made possible through funding from Adobe, Lyn Lear, Cindy Horn, and additional support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The program aims to expand Latine representation in the industry and cultivate a robust community of creatives. Through this initiative, Sundance continues to invest in the future of Latine storytelling in film and television.
