Nicole Kidman to Receive International Star Award at Palm Springs International Film Awards for “Babygirl”
Nicole Kidman has been named the recipient of the International Star Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Awards. The prestigious accolade recognizes her performance in "Babygirl," where she portrays Romy, a high-powered CEO whose life unravels as she engages in a tumultuous affair. The awards ceremony will be held on January 3, 2025, at the Palm Springs Convention Center in California, as part of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, which runs from January 2 to 13, 2025.
Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi praised Kidman’s compelling portrayal in "Babygirl," stating, “Nicole Kidman once again showcases her unmatched talent for embracing bold and unexpected roles with remarkable ease.” This marks Kidman’s second time receiving the International Star Award, having previously won in 2017 for her role in "Lion."
Kidman joins an esteemed lineup of this year’s honorees, including Adrien Brody (Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor), the cast of "Conclave" (Ensemble Performance Award), Colman Domingo (Spotlight Award, Actor), Mikey Madison (Breakthrough Performance Award), and the team behind "Emilia Pérez" (Vanguard Award).
"Babygirl," directed by an undisclosed filmmaker, delves into themes of power, control, and desire. Kidman’s character, Romy, struggles to maintain her professional and personal life amidst her risky relationship with a younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson. The film also features performances by Antonio Banderas and Sophie Wilde.
