Call for Applications: Locarno Spring Academy 2025 with Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel

The Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland has announced its 2025 Spring Academy, inviting applications from emerging filmmakers worldwide. Scheduled from February 23 to March 3, 2025, the workshop will be led by the acclaimed French filmmaking duo Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel.
This immersive 10-day program, organized in collaboration with CISA Film Academy, Ticino Film Commission, RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera, and Hotel du Lac, focuses on the theme “Demain, il y aura quelque chose de nouveau” (“Tomorrow There’ll Be Something New”). Six filmmakers under the age of 35 will be selected through an international call for applications to participate in the creation of short films.
Known for their innovative storytelling and experimental narratives, Poggi and Vinel bring a wealth of experience. They have crafted films like "As Long as Shotguns Remain," which won the Golden Bear at the 2014 Berlinale, and "Jessica Forever," a feature selected at TIFF and the Berlinale. Their latest work, "Eat the Night," premiered at Cannes Directors' Fortnight in 2024.
Participants will engage in both theoretical and practical filmmaking activities, working with professional and non-professional actors from Ticino. The workshop culminates with the premiere of the six completed short films at the 78th Locarno Film Festival, scheduled for August 6-16, 2025.
