David Tennant to Host 2025 Bafta Film Awards in London
UK actor David Tennant, celebrated for his roles in "Doctor Who," "Good Omens," and "Broadchurch," will return to host the 2025 Bafta Film Awards. The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 16, at the Royal Festival Hall in London and will be broadcast on BBC and BBC iPlayer.
This marks Tennant's second consecutive year hosting the prestigious awards. Jane Millichip, CEO of Bafta, commented, “We couldn’t be happier that David Tennant is returning to host the Bafta Film Awards in 2025. He is an absolute pleasure to work with, and his performance this year was simply outstanding.”
The 2025 Bafta Film Awards bring several updates, including the addition of a children's and family film category. Significant changes to voting processes in categories such as outstanding British film, director, acting, documentary, animation, and film not in the English language aim to enhance transparency and representation.
Round one of voting began on December 6, with the longlists set to be announced on January 3. Nominations will follow on January 15, and the public-voted EE Rising Star Award nominees will be revealed on January 7. The 2025 edition marks the 20th anniversary of the Rising Star Award.
Tennant, known for his versatile acting career, has previously appeared in films like "Mary Queen of Scots," "Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger," and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Recently, he starred in the Disney+ series "Rivals."
