“The Brutalist” and “Emilia Pérez” Win Big at 82nd Golden Globes
The 82nd Golden Globes, held on January 5 in Beverly Hills, California, crowned A24's "The Brutalist" and Netflix's "Emilia Pérez" with top honors, adding momentum to their campaigns ahead of the Oscars and BAFTAs. The ceremony, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, highlighted a diverse field of contenders in film and television.
Netflix’s "Emilia Pérez" emerged as the most awarded film of the night, securing four wins, including Best Film Not in the English Language, Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldana, and Best Song for “El Mal.” The film began the night with a leading 10 nominations, demonstrating its wide appeal.
Adrien Brody earned the Best Actor in a Drama award for his performance in "The Brutalist," while Fernanda Torres won Best Actress in a Drama for her role in Sony Pictures Classics’ "I’m Still Here." In the comedy or musical categories, Demi Moore ("The Substance") and Sebastian Stan ("A Different Man") took home the lead acting awards.
Brady Corbet's direction in "The Brutalist" earned him the Best Director award, solidifying his status as a strong contender for upcoming awards. Peter Straughan’s win for Best Screenplay for "Conclave" added another accolade to his career.
