Estonia, end of August 1988. Demonstrations and gatherings are taking place in Tallinn, both at the Song Festival Grounds and elsewhere. In a small village in Southern Estonia, life goes on at its own pace. Helen is a very conscientious and active young girl whose life changes when she loses the most important thing to her. In a politically complicated situation that seemingly does not concern Southern Estonia very much, Helen tries to take care of her brother and support her father, while at the same time trying to find out what happened.
