The Prologue begins, as its name suggests, with the sky, and thus with the almost biblical beginning of all beginnings. Except that it is a man in work clothes who emerges from the cube floating through the air. Not a divine being. And the man doesn't create the world either, but rather flips a large machine lever, causing his cube to release a sphere, which in turn causes a fluorescent glow in a hut below. This absurdly cryptic beginning or prelude is not the end of it. For the beginnings in The Prologue seem endless, as if everything were one big Fischli-Weiß experiment: Flipping a lever immediately leads to a new human figure...
