According to the indigenous Muisca myth, the Bogotá plain was once flooded by streams that threatened to sweep everything away. The god Bochica appeared, and with his cane, he struck the mountain range, opening a passage for the dammed waters. At the edge of the precipice, the Bogotá River crashes and plunges in mist and foam into the abyss.
