A plagued Polish refugee, Józefa, arrives exhausted and alone at the Valivade Displacement Camp in India in 1943, desperate to reunite with the sister she lost during World War II. Based on a true family story, the film follows Józefa as she struggles to survive her traumatic past and her uncertain future, and as she slowly begins to process her pain through the unexpected compassion of a kind local Indian sanitation worker. This is a story of survival, human connection, and India's extraordinary generosity in sheltering nearly 5,000 Polish evacuees during WWII.
