Hapoel won the derby. After a 12-year drought, a historic wave of joy washed over us. It started with drunken celebrations outside Bloomfield and lasted for days. On Saturday morning, a victory march painted Tel Aviv red. Families on balconies watched us – a mob of lunatics blocking Jaffa Road. “Outsiders will never understand,” we say – not the ecstasy, not the chaos. Torn between the urge to document and the need to absorb the moment, I shot what I could. Maybe this way, I can capture the raw power of belonging to a community, of being part of Hapoel Tel Aviv.
