Ritual does not focus on the major occurrences, but turns its gaze inward, to the margins of unfolding reality. Moving between locations and events across the land, a portrait emerges of a fractured and polarized society seeking comfort and agency through rituals in the public sphere: from memorial ceremonies, to protests and escapist gatherings, to ultra-nationalist marches and religious devotion. Through these rituals, Israelis respond to reality while attempting to reshape it.
