Brunch with a Depressed Zombie
우울한 좀비와 브런치
- Korean (한국어)
- South Korea
- 105 min
Can watching a zombie film become a healing experience? In this respect, Brunch for a Depressed Zombie may be a rare case. Byung-jin returns to his hometown with his wife Sun-woo, who suffers from depression. But a zombie virus has spread through the village, and Sun-woo, too, becomes a zombie. From there, Byung-jin begins developing recipes for his zombie wife, which he soon shares with other families in the village who are also caring for zombified family members. With its unusual premise, Brunch for a Depressed Zombie presents zombies less as threatening figures of horror than as figures to be hidden away and isolated. The film shows the efforts made to care for them, to cook for them, and to accept them as members of the village community. It could have been a story of desperate survival, yet at its heart lies a sense of warmth and care that seeks to share the comfort of family and community.
