Six Months in a Pink and Blue Building

In 1992, eleven-year-old Bruno celebrates the most important birthday of his life. He discovers that he has feelings for his best friend Vladimir, while his father receives a devastating diagnosis. After 30 years, director Bruno Santamaría Razo decided to tell about his childhood in Mexico City, referring to these extreme emotional experiences. In the midst of his emotions, he looks at his family with a warm and attentive eye. Shown at Cannes Critics ' Week, the feature debut combines documentary curiosity with color-saturated memories, and the narrative is influenced by the hybrid form of the film. It allows the director to create a dream, full of dance and music the world of his own childhood, and at the same time gradually challenge the interpretations that can impose memories on us. When the director's mother enters the family home reconstructed for the film after 30 years, she immediately notices: the pictures are the faces of the actors – not ours. In his moving debut, Razo proves that certain family images are not painted over.
