Sacrebleu Productions

About

Founded in 1999 by Ron Dyens, Sacrebleu Productions began producing short films in 2001. Since then, more than 90 films have been produced and selected in over 2000 French and foreign festivals as prestigious as Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand, as well as Stuttgart, Brest, Hiroshima, etc... «Sacrebleu», which might translate as “Good Heavens” - is a French swearword. When we say “Sacrebleu”, we can be stuck, and yet we always overcome the problem. With “Sacrebleu”, there is the idea of a problem, but more importantly, there is an idea of challenge. In 2010, Sacrebleu Productions was rewarded for its work by receiving the prestigious Procirep Award for Best Producer. This year also marked the Palme d’Or for best short film awarded to «Barking Island» by Serge Avedikian during the Festival of Cannes, and the Academy Award nomination of the animated short film «Madagascar, a journey diary» directed by Bastien Dubois. In 2012, Sacrebleu produced an animated TV series (20x3’) «Faces from Places», which was recently broadcasted prime time on ARTE. With this TV series, Sacrebleu gained the Award for Best TV animated producer (2014). In 2016, Sacrebleu released its first feature animated «Long Way North» (Public Prize at Annecy 2015 – audience of 600 000 people in France, sold in more than 20 countries around the world). In the recent years Sacrebleu received Cesar for the short animated film «Sunday lunch», as well as twice the Annecy Cristal and the Silver Bear. In 2017, «You Will Be Fine», Céline Devaux’s new film, was awarded the Orrizonti Award for Best Short Film at Venice Film Festival. In the beginning of 2020, the animated feature film "Marona's Fantastic Tale" by Anca Damian and distributed by Cinema Public Films was released. The film received many festivals selections (Annecy, European Film Awards...), awards (BIAF, Reanimania...) and flattering reviews from the press. It was sold in more than 15 countries until now by Charades. The film received the André Martin prize in Annecy and joined the School and Cinema program of the CNC. In 2021, "And then the bear" by Agnès Patron wins the Cesar for best animated short film and Michaela Pavlatova's feature film "My Sunny Maad" won the Jury Prize at Annecy. Distributed by Diaphana and sold internationally by Totem Films, it will be released soon. Sacrebleu is now developing feature length animated films, feature live action films, animated TV series, short films...
