Rules of the 38th edition (2026). Eligibility: Spanish and international short films produced on or after 1 January 2024, up to 35 minutes including credits. All genres (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental), themes and original formats are accepted. Films entered in previous editions of the festival are not eligible. Films must be submitted by the rights holder or a legal representative, who is responsible for any copyright payments. Entry: online through the festival's official submission platforms. For 2026 the call opened on 17 March and closed on 10 September 2026; entry fees applied (from 5 to 10 euros depending on the period). Viewing copies are submitted in the original version; films in a language other than Spanish need Spanish subtitles or, failing that, English subtitles. Selection: a selection committee of audiovisual professionals and festival staff chooses the films and notifies the result by email. Screening copies are sent online (.mov / MPEG-4 H.264 or Apple ProRes 422, Full HD 1920x1080, stereo AAC audio), with Spanish subtitles or an English dialogue list (.srt preferred) for films not in Spanish. Rights holders of films selected for competition allow non-commercial, free promotional screenings for a year and a half after the festival, always notified in advance. Online screening needs separate permission and is not required for the in-person festival. Sections: Official Section (international competition, Spanish and international shorts on equal terms; the festival covers at least one night of accommodation for a representative of each selected film on the day of the screening), De Campo (international competition on rural, ethnographic and landscape themes and the relationship between countryside and city), Castilla y León (films directed or produced by someone born in or long resident in Castilla y León, shot there or produced by a company based there), MiniAguilar (children's and youth films in two categories, ages 3+ and 7+), Ríete tú (international comedy competition with an audience award) and non-competitive parallel sections. Selection fee: films selected for the Official Section and the Castilla y León competition receive 200 euros (taxes included), paid once even if a film is in more than one section. For Spanish films, someone directly involved in the film must attend the screening. A Spanish short film is a Spanish production, a co-production with more than 40% Spanish participation, or a film directed by a Spanish filmmaker. Jury decisions are final.
