Almería Western Film Festival (AWFF) is devoted to the western and takes place in Tabernas, in the Almería desert where many westerns were shot, with screenings and events in the town and in the film towns Oasys MiniHollywood and Fort Bravo Texas Hollywood. It was first held in 2011 to highlight the province of Almería’s more than six decades of ties with the genre and is organised with the Town Council of Tabernas.

The competitive official section covers western features and short films, the Outlaw section for experimental and hybrid work, including Outlaw Made in Almería, and film school works, alongside the out-of-competition Panorama documentary strand. Since 2014 the Tabernas de Cine award has honoured figures linked to the western and to filmmaking in Almería. The programme also includes concerts, a western tapas route and a costume contest. The dates for the 2026 edition, the festival’s 16th, are 8–12 October 2026.
