Animation Block Party presents independent, professional and student animation, with programmes spanning new short films, retrospectives and special screenings. Its history starts with the first Animation Block Party on 9 September 2004. The festival has roots in Brooklyn and presents events in other cities, combining animation screenings with live performances. Picture This contributes live animated comedy, while Malt Adult curates programmes of animated work.
The 2026 programme pairs international shorts and animated loops with Picture This. The Los Angeles date is 27 September 2026 at Lyric Hyperion. The New York event is 24 October 2026 at Union Hall in Brooklyn, following the rescheduling of its September date.
