Athens Animfest

Athens Animfest is an international festival of short animation organised by the Center of Animation, Audiovisual and Performing Arts (Ars Anima), a non-profit organisation in Athens whose other events include the Animart Festival and the Animation Marathon. The festival gives particular weight to European animation, open to any technique, theme, language, nationality and age of the artist, and pursues an educational aim: bringing younger audiences closer to animation and its uses on cinema and television screens, in multimedia, online and in education.

Films compete in three sections — Short, Student and Experimental — and are assessed by the festival's artistic committee; the top award of the short film competition is the Grand Prix “Athena”. Recent editions are held exclusively online, with free viewer registration for the screenings.
