BIDEODROMO presents experimental film and video across documentary, fiction, animation and video art in Bilbao, in Spain’s Basque Country. Organised by Sociedad Cultural Gezi, it connects an international selection with Basque filmmaking. Its history begins with a first edition in Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2011. Although competition is not its main purpose, a jury awards prizes, with additional recognition for Basque work and films by current or former University of the Basque Country students.

The 2026 edition includes a focus on Southeast Asia. Its dates are 25 October–7 November 2026 in Bilbao.

Awards and prizes

The 2026 awards comprise jury prizes of €300 for first place, €200 for second place and €100 for third place. An EITB-sponsored prize of €100 recognises the best Basque film, and a €50 prize recognises the best film by current or former students of the University of the Basque Country (EHU).

Festival rules

The 2026 call accepts experimental films and videos, including fiction, non-fiction, essay, documentary, art and animation. Submit one application form for each film and no more than two films per author. MOV or AVI files are preferred. The official call welcomes subtitles in Spanish, Basque or English. Selected works or excerpts may be used strictly to promote the festival. Applications include the title, author, production year, duration, country, a 90-word synopsis, website, contact details and a JPEG image of approximately 1 MB. Films may be sent electronically to the festival or through its submission platforms.
