Canlandıranlar International Film Festival presents independent animation in Istanbul, Turkey. Organized by the nonprofit Canlandıranlar Association since 2013, the festival belongs to a wider initiative that also includes the Talent Camp for short film production and ASIFA Turkey. Its programme pairs animated shorts in competition with feature screenings, themed selections, artist retrospectives, workshops and masterclasses.

The 14th edition’s dates are 19–25 October 2026. Screenings and events take place at Institut Français, İBB Beyoğlu Sineması and İstanbul Sinema Ofisi. The programme includes a retrospective of Austrian animator Thomas Renoldner, a selection of films he chooses and a masterclass on his artistic practice.

Festival rules

For the 2026 competition, frame-by-frame animated films completed after October 2025 are eligible, provided they are no longer than 30 minutes and have not previously been submitted to the festival. Applications must use FilmFreeway and include a completed form. Only films produced in Türkiye may enter the national competition. Submission closes on 17 July 2026; selected films cannot be withdrawn after 31 July 2026. A pre-selection jury chooses the official selection, which is then assessed by the main jury. Selected filmmakers supply screening materials and a timecoded original dialogue script; the association provides Turkish and English subtitles. Filmmakers must secure all rights to their materials, including AI-generated images. Selected films may be screened in Türkiye during and after the festival, until the next edition, with advance notification and without a screening fee. The organizers may combine or reorganize competition categories. National submissions are free; international submission fees are non-refundable. Submitted information and selected-film promotional materials may be used in festival publications and digital channels. Participants may request correction or deletion of personal data from the organizers under Türkiye’s personal data protection law. Submitting a film constitutes acceptance of the regulations.
