Canterbury Anifest pairs an international animated-short competition with practical workshops, masterclasses and talks for families, students and animation professionals. Based in Canterbury, England, it draws on the area’s connection with Smallfilms, the studio behind Bagpuss and The Clangers. Its history begins in 2007 with Canterbury City Council; Canterbury Christ Church University is its organiser, with ownership dating from 2016.

The programme explores animation through screenings and contributions from studio practitioners, including guests associated with Aardman, LAIKA and Pixar. The 2021 edition is an online event on 25–27 February, combining selected short films with remote activities and industry talks.
