CinemAmbiente focuses on environmental cinema in Turin, with international documentary and short-film competitions alongside the Made in Italy and Panorama sections. Founded in 1998 by Gaetano Capizzi and organized by the National Cinema Museum, it is a founding member of the Green Film Network. CinemAmbiente Junior combines school screenings with a national competition for films made by pupils. The programme also includes discussions with filmmakers, exhibitions, book presentations, concerts and other Ecoevents.

The announced month for the 2027 edition is June. The main screening venue is Cinema Massimo in Turin; the festival also presents activities at the National Cinema Museum and other venues across the city.

Festival rules

The 2026 call covers films on environmental themes produced after 1 January 2024, with entries through FilmFreeway. Its competitive sections are International Documentaries and International Short Films; Made in Italy and Panorama are non-competitive sections. Competition entries require an Italian premiere; out-of-competition films have no premiere restriction. Foreign films screen in their original version with Italian subtitles. These conditions refer to the 2026 edition. For the 2025–26 school year, CinemAmbiente Junior accepts environmental short films of up to 10 minutes made by pupils of Italian primary, lower-secondary and upper-secondary schools. Entry is free and films of any genre and form, including fiction, documentary and animation, are eligible. The submitting school must hold the necessary authorizations, including parental releases for participating minors; submission accepts the competition regulations.
