dance: made in canada/fait au canada Festival (the “d:mic/fac Festival”) is the only Toronto- based biennial summer festival of contemporary dance. The not-for-profit festival was founded in 2000 by Artistic Director, Yvonne Ng and princess productions. d:mic/fac Festival fills a mid-market niche by presenting culturally-diverse, independent dance artists, from established to emerging and from across Canada. Because of its multi-disciplinary nature, the festival is a popular choice for both seasoned art aficionados and new dance and dance on film and video audiences. We are looking to program short (under 15 minutes) films, videos and documentaries that address the intersections of movement and media. Although we cannot offer feedback on submitted films, a response to all submissions will be made in a timely fashion, and complete film programming for the d:mic/fac Festival will be announced in May 2021. While d:mic/fac Festival is foremost a live performance festival, it’s free Arts Encounters programming, including the screening of dance films, has enjoyed increasing patronage over the last 10 years. There is no cost to attend screenings, seating is first come-first served.
