The Deep Cut Film Festival shows offbeat short films in Kitchener, Ontario, and takes its name from the album track that rarely gets radio play. It accepts every genre, horror included, and looks for work that does not fit a single category. There is no limit on production year and films already screened at other festivals are eligible, but not those freely available online. The festival currently runs as a one-day event at the Registry Theatre, with an afternoon show and an evening show, where horror and thrillers usually play. A jury gives Deep Cut Awards for best film, direction, acting, cinematography, editing and original story.

Filmmaker David Briggs founded the festival, which began at the Registry Theatre in 2017, spent 2020 and 2021 in North Bay, paused after 2022 and returned to Kitchener in 2024. The 2027 edition, the festival's tenth, takes place on 17 July 2027.
