Open-air cinemas and temporary screening spaces across Prizren are central to DokuFest, Kosovo’s International Documentary and Short Film Festival. Founded in 2002, it presents more than 200 films from around the world, combining feature and short documentaries with fiction, animation and experimental shorts. Its competitions include Balkan cinema, human rights and environmental documentaries, alongside international and national selections. DokuNights adds live music, while documentary photography, debates and masterclasses extend the programme beyond screenings.

DokuFest is a BAFTA-qualifying festival for British short films and participates in the European Film Academy’s Short Film Network. Its Short Film Forum supports regional projects through development, pitching and co-production meetings. The dates for the 2027 edition in Prizren are 6–14 August 2027.
