ÉCU – The European Independent Film Festival focuses on independently produced cinema, with separate European and non-European competitions. Based in Paris and established in 2006, it accepts films with less than 50% involvement from a major studio or television broadcaster. Its programme includes fiction shorts and features, documentaries, animation, experimental films, music videos, comedy and student work, alongside short and feature screenplay competitions.

Screenings include discussions with attending filmmakers, while industry professionals lead workshops. The ÉCU-On-The-Road programme takes selected films to partner festivals and other venues beyond Paris. The dates for the 22nd edition are 16–18 April 2027 at Les 7 Parnassiens in Paris, France.
